ABSTRACT
Innate immunity serves an important role in the healthy population, providing surveillance and protection against infections. Chemotherapy suppresses the body's immune system, including neutrophil and natural killer (NK) cell numbers and activity. This leads to an increased risk of infection which often requires the reduction or even discontinuation of the chemotherapeutic regimens. The botanical formula LCS102 was designed to stimulate the body's immune system. The effect of the formula on innate immunity was examined in human blood samples, as were its effect on the anti‑cancer activity of chemotherapeutic agents on human cancer cells.
